Three ways to Deal with Self Doubt  

stinkyAs I help my clients and students get ready for 2010 I have been hearing my fair share of self doubt rumbling from the mouths and minds of said clients and students. This got me to thinking and so this post is all about how to strong arm self doubt when it rears it’s stinky head.

Tip #1 – Pattern yourself after The Little Engine That Could. The Little Engine knew the impact of empowering her thoughts. She used an affirmative statement “I think I can!” to help her to meet her goals. BE AFFIRMATIVE, Empower Your Thoughts

Tip #2 – Ignore the voice that says you can’t or you aren’t or you should.  Instead, do the thing you desire to do anyway. Get started. Become engaged.  Eventually the voice of doubt will quiet and then disappear. BECOME ENGAGED with what you want to do.

Tip #3 – Look forward to what you’ll gain. Eleanor Rooselvelt states “We gain strenght, and courage, and confidence by each experience in which we really stop to look fear in the face… we must do that which we think we cannot.” LOOK BEYOND DOUBT. Look forward to what you’ll gain.

Well, there you have it, three tips that you can use individually or all at the same time. Anyway you do it, these tips are sure to help you get beyond the funk that self doubt can put you in.
